Jamie O’Hara has encouraged Celtic to make an ambitious swoop for Sean Dyche.

The Hoops need a new long-term manager after Neil Lennon quit his post at Parkhead a little earlier this week.

That decision comes on the back of Celtic enduring a miserable season as Rangers boast an 18-point lead in the Premiership, during what was supposed to be the year that Lennon guided them to 10 league titles on the trot.

Instead, the Bhoys have a huge rebuilding challenge ahead and O’Hara, speaking to talkSPORT, claims that Dyche would be a brilliant appointment.

The 49-year-old has been Burnley boss since 2012 but the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder claims that Dyche has taken the Clarets as far as he can.

He said: “I look at Sean Dyche and think if he goes to Celtic and wins three or four titles then I think he deserves that because he has taken Burnley as far as he can take them. They’re never going to win anything. They’ll always be a Premier League outfit with Sean Dyche in charge, but he’s never going to really stamp his authority as a top class manager.”

Dyche hasn’t won a great deal of trophies at Turf Moor, but he is hugely respected in the Premier League for keeping Burnley – who have beaten Liverpool and Arsenal this season – in the top flight.

In fact, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola described him as ‘amazing‘ in 2018 and tipped him to win Manager of the Year.

But with respect to Celtic, he could very easily get a bigger job in the Premier League over the coming years and therefore a spell in Scotland probably wouldn’t appeal to him.
