The Record claim Moritz Jenz is set to return to Lorient before the end of the January transfer window from Celtic after growing ‘frustrated’ at a lack of game time at Parkhead – given he has failed to start a league game since December 11.
German-born Jenz, 23, joined Celtic on a loan-to-buy deal from Ligue 1 side Lorient in the summer. He made a solid start, but has since fallen by the wayside. Cameron Carter-Vickers remains first choice at the heart of Celtic’s defence.
Carl Starfelt has been first choice alongside the USA international of late. The Hoops also boast new signing Stephen Welsh and new signing Yuki Kobayashi. The latter started in Celtic’s last league game – with Jenz not even in the squad.
Jenz was quoted by The Sun at the start of the month that he was “really happy” at Celtic. His also said that his agent would start talks over a permanent deal. Fast forward three weeks and he is “frustrated”. He is set to return to France.

While it does come as a bit of a surprise given his comments earlier this month, his lack of game time will have understandably left Jenz frustrated. He is at a crucial part of his career in which he needs to be playing regular games.
Jenz has played 19 times for Celtic, scoring two goals. But he helped Ange Postecoglou’s side keep just five clean sheets, and conceding 27 goals. Notably, most of those goals did come in the Champions League – five against Madrid.
Jenz is now due to return to Lorient who are impressing in French football. It might be that Jenz is sold by Lorient before the end of the window – or, he could go on loan again. He has not played for Lorient this season.
