Millwall have reportedly made an offer to sign Hibernian striker and rumoured Celtic target Kevin Nisbet, though the Edinburgh-based club have rejected the bid from the English side.

According to the Scottish Sun, Hibs have turned down a seven-figure proposal from Millwall to sign Nisbet, who the report note has been in ‘sensational’ form this season in the Scottish Premiership as the likes of Celtic are now interested in the 25-year-old.

Despite spending most of the season out injured, Nisbet has since returned in fine fashion for Hibernian, scoring seven goals in his last SPL matches, including a hat-trick against Motherwell and a brace against Dundee United, with interest now mounting for the Scottish international.

And Millwall have seemingly made the first move to sign Nisbet, with the Lions having a hefty offer rejected by Hibernian in the final week of the January transfer window. And there is now a good chance that a second bid could soon be made by the Championship outfit.

Indeed, Nisbet’s form since returning from injury has been nothing short of impressive, and with a striker in as good a hot-streak as the Hibernian forward, it makes sense that big clubs will be interested in signing the attacker before the closure of the January window.

As for Celtic, the Hoops could be making a poor decision in not going in for Nisbet as aggressively as their English rivals Millwall, who look intent on bringing the 25-year-old across the border and to south London in a deal that could be one of the best of the market this winter.

Millwall signing Nisbet ahead of Celtic will sting for the Hoops

Celtic have been looking to refresh their attacking options for the majority of the January window, and with little action being done in a deal to sign Nisbet from Hibernian, Millwall landing the forward could sting for the Glasgow giants.

After all, Nisbet has been arguably the best forward in the SPL since the league restart in December, and Celtic missing out on the striker to a club like Millwall will be a blow for the Hoops, who have the reputation and financial muscle to beat any Championship club to any player.
