Celtic are reportedly meeting with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors technical director Park Ji-sung over the signing of South Korean international Gue-Sung Cho, who Rangers are also interested in.
According to Sky Sports News, the Hoops have met with the Manchester United icon to discuss a £3m deal that will bring the 2022 FIFA World Cup sensation to Parkhead, with Celtic currently leading the race to sign Cho this January.
The 24-year-old attacker starred for South Korea in Qatar as Cho scored twice for the Asian giants, gaining a huge social media following in the process and also attracting a lot of interest from European clubs, though Celtic now look the clear favourites to sign the forward.
As per the report, Rangers are also interested in signing Cho. However, the Glasgow giants are yet to make a formal approach to Jeonbuk for their star asset, with club chief Park now in talks with Celtic to get a deal over the line in the coming days.

Indeed, Mainz, Ferencvaros and MLS side Minnesota United have all been linked with Cho in recent days as per Sky Sports News, yet with Celtic looking to revamp their attacking options for the second half of the season, the Jeonbuk star could be ideal for Ange Postecoglou’s side in 2023.
Moreover, Celtic under the Australian manager have established itself as one of the leading clubs in Europe in bringing Asian talents from their homeland to the biggest continental stage in football, something that Cho could find appealing despite Bundesliga and MLS interest.
Celtic beating Rangers to signing Cho could be huge for Postecoglou

Celtic and Rangers going after the same player is a tale as old as time, but with the Hoops cruising in the Scottish Premiership and Postecoglou’s transfer strategy proving to be one of the best in Britain, landing Cho would be a huge result for the 57-year-old coach.
After all, Cho was one of the breakout stars of the World Cup and a player who could offer Celtic a lot in 2023. And beating Rangers to the South Korean star’s signature would make the deal that much sweeter as Michael Beale continues to get to grips with the Ibrox job.
