Bordeaux have reportedly launched a bid to sign Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, who now looks set to leave Scotland this January.
According to L’Equipe, the second-tier French side have tabled an offer worth €3m (£2.6m) for the Greek international, with journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reporting earlier today that Giakoumakis has already agreed terms to sign for Serie A club Sampdoria.
Interest is increasing massively for Giakoumakis this January with Ange Postecoglou open to selling the forward according to the Daily Record, Bordeaux’s bid to sign the attacker will be a welcome sight for Celtic, who seem eager to offload the forward this month.
Signed in the summer of 2021, Giakoumakis has had an unusual Celtic career, with the striker scoring an impressive 25 goals in 56 appearances. However, the 28-year-old is seemingly unsettled in Scotland, and Bordeaux’s bid could offer the striker an escape route.

Indeed, Bordeaux might be in Ligue 2, but the French side are still widely considered one of the biggest clubs in the country, with Les Girondins sitting second in the division and considered favourites to return to Ligue 1 come to the end of this season.
And signing Giakoumakis could be what gets Bordeaux over the finish line. And with the striker already on eight goals for the season and zero starts for Celtic since November, the forward himself could be very keen on a move to the Champagne region.
Bordeaux one of many good signing options for Giakoumakis

Giakoumakis has proven to be quite the goalscorer for Celtic in the past two seasons, and with Bordeaux now joining Sampdoria in the race to sign the striker, the former Eredivise star now has some very good options on the table regarding his future.
Whilst Bordeaux are a second-tier side, the French club are showing strong signs of promise this season of making an immediate return to Ligue 1, and for Giakoumakis, this will be an encouraging sign on when choosing who to sign for this January.
