Landing the teenage forward won’t be easy, with Rangers facing competition from West Bromwich Albion.
West Brom’s interest is sparked by their need for goals, and the exit of Oliver Burke on loan to Rangers’ rivals Celtic.
Like Burke, Woodburn’s big asset is his versatility.
He is best off deployed centrally, but can play on the wing, featuring on the left for Sheffield United this season.
Left wing was one of the positions occupied by Burke in one of his three Championship appearances this season, Transfermarkt report.
If Burke was performing to the level he is capable of, West Brom would have kept him, and would not have loaned him out to Celtic.
For this season the Baggies have given up on Burke, sending him to Celtic.
This, along with Harvey Barnes’ loan recall, has left West Brom in need of signing attackers.
Woodburn fits the bill, and it may be to Rangers’ cost.
