Celtic’s hopes of signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers are becoming complicated with more and more Premier League interest emerging.
The Bhoys have Carter-Vickers on loan for the season but are certainly hoping for a permanent deal.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has already admitted that he expects permanent talks for Carter-Vickers after an impressive season in Glasgow.
That deal could cost Celtic a pretty large fee though; the Daily Record claim that a total package for Carter-Vickers could reach £10million.
That would be a major commitment from Celtic, and whilst fans may feel it’s worth it, the Bhoys won’t be throwing money around.
Carter-Vickers is now wanted by Premier League clubs, leaving Celtic facing an uphill battle to secure the American ace on a full-time basis.
SBI Soccer now report that Watford and Bournemouth have been in contact with Tottenham to thrash out a deal for Carter-Vickers.
Carter-Vickers has previously spent time on loan at Bournemouth whilst Watford’s proximity to Tottenham may be appealing.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City are also keen on signing Carter-Vickers, with spending maybe a little easier for them than Celtic.
The time is right for Tottenham to sell Carter-Vickers after many, many loans and both Watford and Bournemouth are keen on such deals.
A powerful defender who ‘crushed’ Mauricio Pochettino, Carter-Vickers clearly has now future at Tottenham and now needs to find a permanent home.
A key factor here though will be divisions; which division will Watford and Bournemouth be playing their football in next season? Watford are battling against relegation and Bournemouth’s promotion push has been stuttering.
Celtic will have to hope that such a fine season this term means Carter-Vickers prioritises the Bhoys over English suitors this summer.
