Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is being linked with a move away from the club – and replacements are now being suggested.
The Glasgow Evening Times claim that Ajer’s representatives have asked for an asking price to leave the club, following the club’s exit from the Champions League.
On Friday, the Daily Record reported that Celtic are keeping tabs on Preston North End defender Ben Davies, possibly as an Ajer’s replacement.
Davies, 25, is into the final year of his contract at Deepdale, meaning Celtic could look to sign him on the cheap or on a pre-contract agreement in January.
The defender is an elegant ball-player, reads the game well and possesses impressive pace, though he isn’t the biggest centre back around.
Davies was on the bench for Preston as they beat Mansfield Town 4-0 on Saturday, and boss Alex Neil has now commented on the situation.

Speaking to Lancs Live, Neil suggested that Celtic would need to pay £10million to sign Davies, which would be a club-record fee for Celtic.
The Scot added that North End advisor Peter Ridsdale would possibly want £20million instead, but no contact has been made by the Bhoys as things stand.
“If they were coming to buy him? Yeah, well if they’ve got £10 million then maybe,” said Neil. “Peter would probably tell you £20 million. Absolutely not (been any contact) as far as I’m aware,” he added.
