According to reports, Celtic will tie up a £3m permanent move for striker John Guidetti.
Celtic seem to be recovering from a poor start under new manager Ronny Deila, with Wednesday’s 6-0 win over Partick Thistle their four victory in a row since their shock 1-0 home defeat to Hamilton.
That game featured a superb hat-trick from loan striker John Guidetti, with the Manchester City-owned star taking his tally to eight goals in eight games.
On Saturday, Celtic made it five wins in a row, and Guidetti made it nine goals in nine games with the winning strike against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Guidetti’s early second half goal gave Celtic a 1-0 win, in a week where his future has been talked about heavily, with Deila looking to tie up a permanent deal for him.
Yet reports late in the week suggested that City wanted around £5m for the Swedish youngster – a fee which may have priced Celtic out of the running for his signature.
However, the 22-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season, and City may be willing to take a lower fee in January as a result; and Celtic may have struck a deal.
The Daily Star today report that Celtic are on the verge of agreeing a £3m deal to sign Guidetti permanently, which will be a huge boost to Deila, with other clubs no doubt keeping track of his goalscoring exploits north of the border.
Keeping Guidetti in Glasgow would be a bit signal of intent from Celtic, who should still win the SPL title despite currently sitting in third place behind Hamilton Academical and Dundee United – and if the Swede can keep up his ratio of scoring a goal in every game, £3m will be money well spent.
