Tottenham Hotspur could face a surprise battle with Celtic over the signature of Al Ittihad winger Jota in the January transfer window.

Celtic are interested in a stunning move to bring Al Ittihad winger Jota back to Parkhead in 2024.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim that Celtic could make their move to re-sign Jota.

Al Ittihad splashed out £25million to sign Jota from Celtic back in July, luring him over to Saudi Arabia.

The move has been a complete disaster with Al Ittihad boss Nuno Espirito Santo leaving him out of his first-team plans.

That has resulted in rumours surrounding a swift January exit – and Celtic may make their move.

Celtic interested in re-signing Al Ittihad misfit Jota

TEAMtalk suggest that Celtic have now ‘made it clear’ to Jota that they would welcome him back to Parkhead.

It’s stated that Jota’s representatives have been discussing potential exit strategies – including contract termination.

Al Ittihad may not be too keen on the idea of ripping up Jota’s contract just months after signing him.

The report adds that Jota would consider a move back to Celtic if a move to Parkhead is possible in January.

That would surely be a loan move but Celtic appear to have been given some level of encouragement that a deal can be done.

Celtic could now challenge Tottenham Hotspur

There is already plenty of interest in Jota as his nightmare situation in Saudi Arabia has made headlines in recent weeks.

90Min reported earlier in October that a number of Premier League clubs are keen on Jota but he fancies a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou coached Jota at Celtic, with the former Benfica talent racking up 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games under the Australian.

A reunion seems to make perfect sense, especially with wingers Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic both suffering major injury blows.

Celtic could now attempt to pull on the heartstrings by offering to take Jota back to Glasgow, but a potential reunion with Postecoglou may really dent their hopes.
