Aston Villa are back in training for pre-season – and Celtic target Viljami Sinisalo was spotted in first-team preparations.
Jack Grealish may be preparing for England’s semi-final clash with Denmark, but a number of other Villa first-team players were back at Bodymoor Heath.
New signing Ashley Young returned for his first training session since rejoining Villa, whilst the likes of Matty Cash and Matt Targett were also starting pre-season.
There was also a chance for Sinisalo to be around the Villa first team given that first-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is at Copa America with Argentina.
Jed Steer was there too, but with Villa’s first pre-season game coming two weeks today against Walsall, it makes sense to have Sinisalo involved.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper joined Villa from FC Espoo in 2018, and has just returned from a strong loan spell at Scottish side Ayr United.
Sinisalo took to Twitter on Monday night to state that it’s ‘good to be back’ training with Villa, even if his future may be a little unclear.
Reports from The Mirror in June suggested that Celtic are hoping to sign Sinisalo this summer as they seek a new goalkeeper.
Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are also thought to be keen, but Villa may well be keeping Sinisalo around the first-team picture this summer to show him how valued he is at Villa Park.
Celtic will be keeping close tabs on the situation though ahead of potentially launching a raid on Villa for the Finnish teenager.
