Celtic are hoping to land defender Tomas Kalas this summer, report The Scottish Sun.

Kalas is on at Bristol City from Chelsea, where he has failed to build on a breakthrough moment.

Kalas signed with Chelsea in 2010, and took until 2014 to make his debut.

When it came, it was memorable. He played a part in helping Chelsea win 2-0 at Anfield. However, Kalas felt the his own performance was overshadowed.

He told The Evening Standard in 2017: “I have watched a few clips of the match since then. Of course, you always see the Gerrard slip, but I was able to see the things I did right and wrong.

“I learnt a lot, but I still need to prove I can play at that level. I can’t be judged on just that one game.”

Kalas has not kicked on since. He is stuck in the Championship, rather than the Premier League.

That’s why a move to Celtic may appeal, with the Scottish champions able to offer European football.

Kalas craves another chance on a bigger stage, and doing it against Gerrard again, now manager of Rangers, would certainly bring back memories.
