This week Celtic have been linked with a move for FC Astana attacker Patrick Twumasi. Ghana Sports Online claims that Twumasi has emerged as a potential transfer target for Celtic in the January transfer window.

The Ghanaian striker, who scored twice against Celtic in the Champions League qualifiers, was on target again last night as his side lost 3-2 to Villarreal in Kazakhstan. It was a tough result for Astana, who could have qualified for the next round of the competition with a win.

After the game Celtic certainly received a boost, as Twumasi appeared to level a lot of the blame on his team-mates. On his official Facebook page, as reported by Football Made In Ghana, he blamed several ‘selfish’ team-mates for the poor result:

“Despite all my ankle injury, I was able to help the team and give one assist and one goal. For my wife and my love(ly) fans who came from long way to support us. We could have won this game easy if not some selfish play from some players.”

Celtic will no doubt be buoyed by this recent development, as they look to make a move for the player in January.

His goal last night took him to 22 goals this season and Celtic are right to be keeping an eye on his progress. If they can convince him of team players in Glasgow, they might be on to a winner.
