Giorgian De Arrascaeta’s £18 million price-tag surely rules Celtic out of the race to sign him.

Celtic are said to be interested in the Cruzeiro playmaker, who has only just returned from the World Cup with Uruguay.

Brendan Rodgers has reportedly had scouts watching the attacking midfielder, but his price-tag looks restrictive.

Celtic would face paying a huge fee to bring him in, and would have to smash their transfer record.

The Bhoys have already been linked with the likes of Joe Allen this summer, only for him to prove too expensive.

And for Celtic to even contemplate paying £18 million for one player they would surely have to sell either of Moussa Dembele or Kieran Tierney.

The Bhoys are said to be in competition with Newcastle United for De Arrascaeta, and although the signing may look an exciting one, it just doesn’t seem realistic for Rodgers’ side right now.
