Moussa Dembele has been urged to quit Celtic and look for a new challenge by striker Thierry Henry.
And considering the high esteem Dembele holds Henry in, it is going to be tough for the France under-21 striker to ignore the pleas.
Dembele told The Scottish Sun last year: “I looked up to him when I was younger, watching what he was doing and I just want to produce the same if not better than him.
“He was the best-ever goalscorer for France and that’s the goal for every striker. To be the best. I like Henry’s confidence. He was quick, he was direct and he had a good finish.”
This of course does not mean he has to listen to every piece of career advice Henry imparts, but considering the strong suggestions already that Dembele can leave this month if the price is right, it is likely to tip the scales in favour of an exit.
If Dembele wants to be like Henry, then he needs to make bold decisions, and this means continuing to test himself.
Henry told The Scottish Sun: “He can play, he can score, it might be time for him to play in a big league. He has all the attributes. I’m just really surprised it’s only Brighton showing interest.”
Dembele will have to weigh up the risk signing for Brighton, as there is a distinct possibility they are relegated to the Championship next season.
Currently they sit 12th, but are just five points clear of the relegation zone.
Embracing the challenge of keeping them in the top flight could be tempting still, and given Henry’s call for him to test himself, the striker may well decide to go for it.
