The striker netted for his country against their Russian counterparts.

There is no doubt that Celtic’s on-loan Manchester City striker John Guidetti is a potent and reliable finisher. The Swede has the ability to score goals for fun. He proved as much during his time with Feyenoord in 2011-12, where he netted 20 times in 23 appearances.

Since then he has however battled a serious illness which almost ended his career, but has come back strong with Celtic this term. He has netted 14 goals in 30 games for the Glasgow club – just shy of a one in two strike rate.

Last night he showcased his scoring form for Sweden’s under-21 side. He scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win over the Russian under-21s. He netted in the third minute of the game, before Simon Gustafsson of BK Hacken netted the second.

Guidetti may be a top scorer but he has not always rubbed people up the right way and his stay at Celtic may not be extended beyond this campaign. He is a free agent at City and there will be countless teams looking to snap him up permanently.

This goal represents just another notch he can put down on his CV.
