Christie has returned to Celtic but is on the fringes of Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he has put on seven kilograms since he first joined the Scottish champions from Inverness in the summer of 2015.
The 23-year-old has returned to the fold with Brendan Rodgers’ side, as somewhat of a replacement for Stuart Armstrong who joined Southampton earlier this summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £8million.
Christie starred during his 18 months at Aberdeen, scoring 15 goals and creating another 18 in just 57 appearances for Derek McInnes’ side. He has also won three Scotland caps in that time.
The attacking midfielder told the Evening Times that he was rather slight when first moving to Parkhead, but has been working hard in the gym and it is beginning to pay off – going from 66.5 kilograms to 73.5 kilograms.
“I look back at photos when I joined Celtic and I look like a wee boy in comparison to what I look like now,” Christie said. “When I first joined Celtic I was 66.5 kilograms and now I’m about 73.5 so I’ve put on a right few kilograms which is good.
“We get our fat tested every day and I’ve managed to keep that down so hopefully it means that’s muscle that I’m putting on. It’s benefiting me massively.”

Christie is very much on the fringes of Celtic’s squad, making five substitute appearances since returning to Parkhead including a 13-minute cameo role in the 1-0 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday.
He has less than 12 months remaining on his current Celtic contract which expires on May 31, and Rodgers must make a decision in the near future whether to extend his deal with the Hoops.
