Celtic star hits back at Tony Cascarino.
Celtic set a new British standard at the weekend as they broke a century old record by going 63 domestic games unbeaten.
Cascarino’s argument was that a lack of competition in Scotland rendered their achievements worthless.
Celtic star Patrick Roberts was asked about Cascarino’s criticism, and said that it would not bother him or his Celtic teammates.
He told The Scotsman: “They are standard, all the comments you get these days are the same. We don’t really focus win them much, we just focus on ourselves and keep making people hate us even more
“They are obviously paid to give their opinions, but we don’t take any notice of it. We just concentrate on our football. It it was easy it wouldn’t have stood for 100 years. That’s how long it stood for but hopefully we can continue it for longer.”
Roberts is only on loan at Celtic but he is fully buying into the club’s project, as this is his third stint at the club under manager Brendan Rodgers.
To be dominant at any level requires mental strength and focus as well as being at a higher level, and Celtic’s players and staff deserve the plaudits they receive, rather than to have their feats denigrated.
