Celtic winger Mohamed Elyounoussi has told The Glasgow Times that he is ‘glad’ to hear praise from Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Elyounoussi was in fine form when Celtic took on Lille last week, as he scored twice in a 2-2 draw, including a beautiful strike for the opener.
The Norwegian took that form into Sunday’s 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen, scoring the second goal in the victory.
Elyounoussi hasn’t been at his best consistently since returning for a second season on loan at Celtic, but he has shown exactly what he can do in the last couple of games.
Neil Lennon’s focus will now be on getting the best out of Elyounoussi on a weekly basis, and he has looked far more comfortable out wide rather than playing up front.
Last week, Southampton boss Hasenhuttl praised Elyounoussi, and suggested that the door was ‘definitely’ open for him to return to the Saints and make an impact next season.

Elyounoussi has now admitted that he is glad to hear Hasenhuttl’s comments, but his focus is completely on Celtic, and he wants to do as well as possible before leaving Parkhead.
“Is that good for my confidence? Yes, of course,” said Elyounoussi. “I am glad to hear that. I follow what they are doing and I am pleased they are doing so well at the moment. But me personally now my main focus is on Celtic and playing as well as possible for this club and enjoying games. But I’m happy that Southampton are doing well as well,” he added.
