Morgan played under Sunderland manager Jack Ross at St. Mirren.

Lewis Morgan has told Celtic’s official website that he believes Sunderland are a “massive club” and has been impressed with manager Jack Ross’ efforts at the Stadium of Light, after being linked with the League One side this summer.
Sunderland were linked with a number of Celtic players throughout the summer including winger Morgan, who played under Black Cats manager Ross at St. Mirren.
The Scottish Sun claimed back in June that Sunderland wanted to sign the impressive Morgan, 21, on a season-long loan deal. Instead, the Scotland international opted to remain at Celtic and work his way into Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Morgan, who cost Celtic £300,000 (BBC Sport) in January before he was immediately loaned back, gave his verdict on Sunderland after he was linked with a move to the Wearside club this summer.
“I was happy for my old gaffer, Jack Ross, in that he got his well-deserved moved. Sunderland’s a massive club and I’m sure he’ll get things going in the right direction there,” Morgan said.
“I loved my time playing under him and I’m sure the boys at St Mirren were hoping he’d stay but you can’t stand in his way. He’s being doing well down there and it’s good to see.”

At just 21, Morgan has already clocked up a huge 118 appearances for St. Mirren but it was his form last season at Paisley that attracted Celtic. In 42 games from out wide, he scored 18 goals and created another 13 in assists.
This season, he has managed just one appearance for Celtic as a 13-minute substitute Alashkert back in July, before he suffered a knee injury which has ruled him out of action since.
He will face the going tough when trying to earn his place back, with the Hoops boasting the likes of Scott Sinclair, James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and new signing Daniel Arzani.
