It has been a difficult year for Glasgow Rangers this season, but one Ibrox star has stood out in the Celtic man’s mind.

Leigh Griffiths has unsurprisingly named several of his Celtic teammates when discussing who deserves the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award, but also suggested that one Rangers player deserves to be in contention for the award, the Daily Mail reports.

Given how the Scottish Premiership has panned out this season, it would hardly be a surprise if one of Brendan Rodgers’ squad took home the award.

The Hoops have already wrapped up the title, having gone through the entire league season unbeaten and creating a 26 point gap to Aberdeen with a handful of games still to go.

Meanwhile, at Ibrox, it has been a much more disappointing campaign as they sit some 35 points back of the Bhoys with very little to reflect on positively from this term.

Nevertheless, while Griffiths was suggesting that striker rival Moussa Dembele should be leading the nominations for the young player and players’ player accolades, and subsequently backed a couple more of his teammates, he added that one of Pedro Caixinha’s squad probably deserves to be recognised also.

“For the PFA one, if he’s (Dembele) not up for both it’ll be incredible. He can still get young player, too,” he said, as reported by the Mail.

“I wouldn’t back against him winning both. He’s had a phenomenal season but so have Scotty (Sinclair), Stuart (Armstrong) and Broony.

“Kenny Miller has done well, too. But he (Dembele) is probably favourite to lift that trophy like I did last season.”

Miller has certainly deserved plenty of praise for his displays this season. The 37-year-old currently tops the Gers’ goalscoring charts in the top flight with eight strikes to his name, with a handful of those goals proving to be winners.

And if he finishes the campaign as the club’s leading goalscorer in the league, it will surely seem a foolish decision not to hand him a new contract when his current deal expires this summer (via Mail).
