Celtic ace plays down overwhelming favourites tag.
Celtic’s Craig Gordon gestures
Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has played down their tag as overwhelming favourites against this weekend’s opponents Rangers.
Celtic have won all three games against their rivals this season, winning the first 5-1.
They sit 33 points above Rangers, but Gordon has complimented their opponents, speaking to Clyde1.
He said: “The two certainly that I have played in this season, the one at Hampden and the one at Ibrox, were only decided by a single goal. They are a good team.
“I think there is a little bit too much made of us being overwhelming favourites and ‘Rangers are coming to take a beating’.
“That is certainly not the case.”
Rangers will going out to win, but in the back of their minds they will also be desperate to avoid humiliation.
It has been a very tough season for them back in the top flight, and they sit in third place, with Mark Warburton departing his role as manager last month.
Celtic are unbeaten in domestic competition this season and would love to continue that run against Rangers.
A sixth title is a formality, but Rangers could at least delay their coronation by a week if they get a surprise win this weekend.
