Rangers lost 1-0 to Aberdeen in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup this past Sunday, while Celtic got the better of Scottish Premiership rivals Heart of Midlothian 3-0 to book their place in the final of the competition.
McGregor told The Daily Record: “We’ve not had an Old Firm final for a good few years so it would have been incredible to be involved in that.”
Big miss
Rangers did have a great chance to progress to the final of the Scottish League Cup, and Gerrard’s side will be disappointed that they could not take it.
Aberdeen are a good side, but the Gers should have won against their Scottish Premiership rivals.
On the day, though, Rangers were simply not good enough, especially in the final third, as they struggled to create chances.
Rangers, though, should now regroup and push in the Scottish Premiership, where there is still a very good chance of them challenging bitter Old Firm rivals.
The Ibrox club are also going strong in the Europa League and have a chance of booking their place in the knockout rounds of the competition.
