Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic drew with Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership last week.
Motherwell midfielder Rose recently suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic star McGregor played for the penalty during the two sides’ Scottish Premiership game last week.
Brendan Rodgers’s side played out a 1-1 draw with Motherwell away from home at Fir Park in the league last Wednesday evening.
An own goal from Mikael Lustig saw the home team take the lead in the 78th minute, but Scott Sinclair restored parity from the penalty spot on 88 minutes after Rose’s challenge on McGregor was deemed to be a penalty.
McGregor, 24, has hit back at suggestions that he played for the penalty and has said that he always tries to be honest.
“I always try to be honest, that’s the way I’ve been brought up,” McGregor told The Scottish Sun. “You could see from the reverse angle it was a penalty and the referee gave it, simple as that.
“I’ve not read all the stuff about it. As far as I was concerned, I was fouled and it was a penalty. If people want to question whether you are honest or not, that’s down to them.”
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 37 points from 15 matches, seven points clear of second-placed and Old Firm rivals Rangers with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Motherwell currently find themselves fifth in the league table with 23 points from 15 matches.
