If Everton’s proposed deal for Besiktas’ Cenk Tosun falls through should they target these Benfica, Celtic, or Chelsea strikers?
Besiktas’ Cenk Tosun celebrates after scoring a goal during the Turkish Super Lig football match against Galatasaray.
The proposed transfer of Cenk Tosun from Besiktas to Everton has become problematic with the forward’s current side raising his asking price, reports the Times.
The Toffees thought that had agreed a £25m deal for Tosun, inclusive of add-ons, but now his Turkish owners want closer to £27m – a figure the Merseyside club are reluctant to pay.
If the move falls through then here are three alternative striker targets for Sam Allardyce.
Geoff Cameron of Stoke City and Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea during the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.
Michy Batshuayi
Batshuayi has struggled to assert himself at Chelsea since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2016 at the same time as manager Antonio Conte.
Since then the Belgium international has scored 16 goals in 47 first team appearances and was once again being linked with an exit from West London by the Mirror in December.
Moussa Dembele
Another heavily rumoured to be leaving his current club, Brighton and Hove Albion are reported by the Sun to be in talks about a £20m deal for the Celtic attacker.
Stoke City are also keeping tabs, but should Allardyce compete for a 21-year-old who has scored 40 goals in 70 games since a 2016 switch from Fulham?
Benfica forward Raul Jimenez (R) vies with Manchester United’s Scott McTominay during the UEFA Champions League Group A football match.
Raul Jimenez
Linked with Everton in September by talkSPORT, back then it was thought it would cost around £44m to sign the Mexican from Benfica.
However, Record (December 27, page 12) now reports that Jimenez could leave for closer to £25m – although his scoring record of two in 23 matches this season may cast some doubts over whether the 26-year-old is worth it.
