There is one Bhoys star hoping to pull on the Three Lions shirt.

Celtic star Scott Sinclair has admitted that he is targeting a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad if he can continue his fine form north of the border, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Sinclair had struggled over the last few years of his career since leaving Swansea City, but has been revitalised by the switch to Celtic Park.

The 27-year-old scored on his first six Scottish Premiership appearances in a row, and has to date found the net nine times in 11 league games since his summer arrival.

He is also playing regularly in the Champions League for the first time in his life, having made six appearances in the qualifying rounds and group stage so far this term.

The attacker represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-21s, and also featured for Great Britain in the London 2012 Olympic Games four years ago.

He has never been handed a call-up to the Three Lions senior squad, but admitted that he has his eyes set on earning a maiden inclusion in Southgate’s squad if he can continue to impress in Glasgow.

Sinclair told reporters, via Sky Sports: “When my time is right it’ll come but at the moment I’m concentrating on just playing week by week and every game that is coming in front of me – that is what I’m enjoying. So, at this moment in time, if I can get into England then that would great – my ambitions are still to play for my country.

“If you can keep doing well in the Champions League and, on a personal note, in playing games then I don’t see why [I can’t] break in. It’s great that I’m playing every week and scoring goals and getting back into form. I’m just enjoying my football again and that was the main reason for me coming here and I haven’t looked back since.

“I wouldn’t say there is any barrier, it is just about how you do. If you are playing Champions League and you are doing it at that level then I don’t see why not. At the moment I wouldn’t know, you’d have to ask [Southgate] or whoever was bringing players into the squad. All I can do is concentrate on myself and keep doing as well as I can.”

Sinclair scored his 10th goal of the season in all competitions in the win over Inverness before the international break, and he may well be looking longingly at England’s progress, feeling that he deserves to be training as part of the squad.

Scotland is not a common hunting ground for England managers, and unfortunately it is likely that Sinclair will have to do something really special to be considered for a call-up, whether that is fair or not.
