Celtic slated by West Brom’s Luke Dowling over Oliver Burke loan

Celtic have been absolutely savaged by West Brom technical director Luke Dowling.

West Bromwich Albion technical director Luke Dowling has told The Mirror that winger Oliver Burke will be going nowhere near Celtic again.

Burke was struggling for playing time under Darren Moore, with his Hawthorns career continuing to be a disappointment having flopped under Tony Pulis too.

The winger needed playing time come January, and Celtic swooped to take him on loan for the rest of the season under Brendan Rodgers.

However, Rodgers left the club just weeks later, with Neil Lennon coming in as his replacement, and Burke once again struggled to play his best football.

The 22-year-old speed demon hit four goals in 14 league games for Celtic, and was often used as a striker at Parkhead, much to the bemusement of Bhoys fans.

It always seemed unlikely that Celtic would pursue another deal for Burke this summer, but any chance has been completely ruled out by West Brom’s Dowling.

Dowling has blasted Celtic boss Lennon, claiming Burke won’t be going anywhere near Celtic whilst he’s in charge, adding that the treatment he got from Lennon simply wasn’t good enough.

Dowling added that Celtic ‘know what’s gone on’ and Burke obviously does too, and whilst he wouldn’t divulge exactly what’s occurred, the Baggies have been left absolutely furious by Lennon’s treatment of Burke.

“He won’t be going anywhere near Celtic with the current manager,” said Dowling. “We sent Oli to Celtic in good faith with Brendan Rodgers and Lee Congleton some really good people up there that wanted to take Oli and wanted to play him. They wanted to make him a better player than he currently is. Once Brendan left to go to Leicester the treatment he got from the manager that’s in place now is something we don’t expect for one of our players.”

“He won’t be going anywhere near Celtic FC. We currently have a new manager that’s excited to start working and looking at Oli. They know what’s gone on and Oli certainly knows what’s gone on. It’s just something we’re not happy with at all,” hea dded.
