Celtic defender Hatem Elhamed has told the Herald Scotland that playing against Rangers was one of the toughest games of his career.

Elhamed signed for Celtic in the summer, and was quickly given his first taste of Old-Firm football at Ibrox.

Elhamed put in a very impressive performance in Celtic’s comfortable 2-0 victory against their rivals.

But the Israeli international admits that he didn’t find things easy against Rangers.

“The game with Rangers was one of the toughest and biggest of my career. I played two different positions so I want to take the confidence into Thursday,” he said.

Celtic’s victory against Rangers was the first major statement in this season’s title race.

The Bhoys have gone on to back up their victory against Steven Gerrard’s side by getting back to winning ways straight after the international break.

Celtic picked up a 1-0 victory away against Hamilton at the weekend, with Elhamed helping his side pick up a clean sheet.

Neil Lennon’s men are next in action on Thursday, when they take on Rennes in the Europa League.
