Celtic have reportedly seen three bids rejected for John McGinn, so perhaps the Hoops should now switch their attention to the West Ham United youngster.
Whether Celtic agree to meet McGinn’s asking price before the window closes or not, Brendan Rodgers is likely to boast the best midfield in the Scottish Premiership next term – and given that fact, it is probably little surprise that the Bhoys are seemingly reluctant to offer £4 million, especially when you consider that he is out of contract next summer.
Rodgers may have the best midfield in the country, and should consider steering clear of McGinn for the time-being, but perhaps they should still keep their search for a new signing in the middle of the park going.
Quina is obviously a much less proven talent than McGinn. But the Portuguese appears to have the potential to make the six-figure fee look like an absolute steal in years to come.
Rodgers should undoubtedly look to make a move given that he would be available for £1.6 million less than what Celtic were most recently willing to pay for McGinn.
Quina may not be on McGinn’s level at this stage, but Celtic do not necessarily need a player who is the finished article just yet. In the long run, meeting West Ham’s asking price for Quina could be one of the best pieces of business that Celtic do if Rodgers is able to turn him into the player he has threatened to be.
