Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson could be heading to Celtic this summer as the Scottish Premiership champions reportedly show interest in his services.

Celtic are interested in a potential loan deal for Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, according to The Scottish Mail on Sunday (back page, 16/06).
Jenkinson’s career has gone backwards for a number of years now and he wouldn’t be a player that would enhance or improve a Celtic team that recently won the Treble treble.
The 27-year-old was on-loan at Championship side Birmingham City during the 2017/18 season and he struggled to impress in a team that was fighting relegation throughout the campaign.
Upon his return to Arsenal during the recently concluded campaign, he only made eight appearances in all competitions [transfermarkt] for the Gunners.
Given the fact that Celtic are looking to continue their dominance in Scotland, the last thing they need is a player that needs time to just get some sharpness back into his game, forget about actually producing the goods.
Considering a potential loan move is being mooted, Jenkinson wouldn’t have enough sufficient time to even get anywhere near his best because it has been a long while since he played a whole season, or close to it, that’s how much he has struggled with injury and form.

The last time Jenkinson had a decent run of games in the league was when he played 10 consecutive games for then-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger during the 2015/16 campaign.
Simply put, Neil Lennon and Co. are better off either signing a much younger player, and investing in his future or pushing a player through via the academy.
There’s no doubt that Celtic need a strong first teamer playing at right-back, and a loan deal for a player would be suitable, but just not Jenkinson because of his current situation. If Celtic do push for a deal for the player then they would be making their biggest mistake of the summer.
