According to The Daily Mail, Southampton and Newcastle United are weighing up a move for Alaves centre-back Zouhair Feddal.
Tuttomercatoweb reported back in 2015 that the Morocco international was on Celtic’s radar and the time might be right for the Scottish Premiership giants to renew an interest.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is in the market for another centre-back after Dedryck Boyata was ruled out for three months this week.
And The Mirror reported that Celtic were looking at QPR defender Steven Caulker, who previously played under Rodgers at Swansea City back in 2012.
But Zeddal is, according to The Mail, available for £2.8 million and the Northern Irish should consider activating his release clause.
Caulker is a good defender, but he has well-documented off-the-field issues and whatever way you look at it, signing him would be a risk for Rodgers.
But would the 28-year-old Zeddal – who is 6’3 tall – join Celtic? He might.
Southampton and Newcastle would be tempting in the Premier League, especially the Saints given how he played under Mauricio Pellegrino at Alaves last season, but the Bhoys could have the carrot of Champions League football to offer and he might well consider a move to Glasgow.
At that price, Rodgers has very little to lose and should at least try to pick up where Deila left off.
