Celtic were keen on Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo back in the summer, but ultimately missed out on the youngster.
In comparison with their domestic rivals, Celtic already boast a squad that is head and shoulders above anything else in the country, with the Hoops top of the Scottish Premiership on goal difference while also reaching the semi-final of the League Cup and making a bright start to their Champions League group-stage campaign after coming through six games just to get to that stage.
Brendan Rodgers will certainly be happy with his squad, but there is certainly an argument that the Bhoys still need to add additional depth in certain areas of the field to perhaps enable them to reach another gear.
One area that may be a concern for Rodgers is at centre-back, with injuries hitting Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata in recent times, leaving the Hoops occasionally looking exposed at the heart of the defence.
So perhaps Rodgers should turn to a player that he was looking at during the summer when the January transfer window opens in the hope that a loan move may be deemed beneficial to all parties.
Since then however, the 20-year-old has failed to break into Pep Guardiola’s side at any stage this term, so perhaps he may be questioning whether it was the right decision to sign the new deal at the Etihad.
Celtic should reignite their interest and suggest to City that they would like to take Adarabioyo on loan for the rest of the season to give their defence the support it needs.
With Patrick Roberts taking his game to a completely different level at Parkhead, it could surely be argued that Guardiola may feel letting the youngster also head to the Hoops could be a great move for his development.
