The Manchester City teenager could do a good job on loan at Celtic.

At the end of the season, Celtic loanee Patrick Roberts is expected to head back to his parent club Manchester City, leaving the Bhoys with a sizeable hole to fill.

The 20-year-old has featured 36 times for Celtic this season, scoring five goals and providing 11 assists in the process, and as he approaches his 50th Bhoys appearance in two years there is little doubt he will be sorely missed.

However, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers would be wise to not simply send him back to City without additional negotiations, instead asking for another player on loan from the Blues instead.

Brahim Diaz may only be 17, but the young Spaniard occupies many of the same positions as Roberts and he possesses the innate talent to take Celtic Park by storm.

Diaz is one of City’s most exciting prospects, having recently made HITC’s list of the top 50 teenagers in English football, and after scoring and assisting regularly for the under-23s and in the UEFA Youth League, the time is right for him to take the next step in his career.

Celtic would be the perfect short-term destination for Diaz, allowing him to develop his game while also ensuring the Bhoys have a player with the potential to step into the hole left by Roberts’ imminent departure.
