Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm would be a good signing for Celtic in the January transfer window or next summer.
Back in the summer of 2016, The Scotsman claimed of Celtic’s interest in Michel Vorm. The Glasgow giants were reportedly looking for a new goalkeeper at the time, but Vorm remained at Tottenham Hotspur.
Celtic should return for the former Swansea City goalkeeper either in the January transfer window or next summer when his current contract with Tottenham runs out, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The Netherlands international has failed to displace Hugo Lloris from the number one spot between the posts, and the signing of 25-year-old goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in the summer of 2017 has threatened his status as the number two at Totenham.
It is hard to imagine Spurs handing Vorm a new contract as he will be 34 later this month, and the former Swansea star himself could be looking to move on after limited playing time at the North London club since his switch in 2014.
Craig Gordon is a good goalkeeper, but the Celtic and Scotland number one is prone to making mistakes. The 34-year-old needs to be pushed, and Vorm could be the player who gives him real competition for his place in goal. Spurs may not be willing to let go of Vorm in January, but Celtic should still make an offer for a player who worked with manager Brendan Rodgers at Swansea.
If Celtic fail to secure the services of the Dutchman in the January transfer window, then they could simply pick him up on a free next summer.
