It should see former side Celtic look to bring McGeady back to Celtic Park, eight years after leaving the club to join Russian giants Spartak Moscow in 2010.
He has since played for Everton and Preston since, but may now want to leave with his quality obviously a lot better than a side struggling towards the bottom of the Championship.
Celtic have lost summer signing Jonny Hayes after breaking his leg, while Patrick Roberts has only just returned to training after a long-term muscle injury.
It leaves the Hoops with just Scott Sinclair and James Forrest out wide, leaving Brendan Rodgers in need of depth with an upcoming Europa League on his hands.
Signing any winger with European experience would be a good move, but landing the McGeady who has prior connections with the club would see him reach the peak of his talents back on old turf and hit the ground running.
