Hibernian manager has confirmed his interest in on-loan Celtic star Scott Bain.
Scott Bain has a huge decision to make on his long-term future after starring between the sticks for Celtic on Sunday afternoon in the Hoops’ 3-2 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers.
The 26-year-old pulled off a string of marvellous saves to keep the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Josh Windass and Jamie Murphy at bay during the crucial victory, in what was his Hoops debut.
He remains on loan from Scottish Premiership side Dundee, after joining Neil Lennon’s Hibernian for the first half of the season on loan from Neil McCann’s Dark Blues.
Now, Hibs boss Lennon has confirmed his interest in the uncapped Scottish goalkeeper despite Bain remaining on loan with the Hoops until the end of the season. But surely Celtic will be keen to land his signature after Sunday’s efforts?
Bain has a contract at Dens Park until the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer. But he must consider whether he will be afforded regular game time at Celtic, like he would at Easter Road.
Celtic’s number 29 will almost certainly revert to back up goalkeeper when Craig Gordon returns, and if Celtic want to keep Bain permanently, Brendan Rodgers must convince him that he will be given enough games to keep him happy.
With Dorus de Vries underperforming, Bain would be the perfect back-up keeper but Rodgers must move quickly in order to convince Bain to stay – if he wants to keep him – with Lennon sharpening his claws.
