Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic should make a move for Leicester City defender Robert Huth in the summer transfer window.

That Celtic have a problem in defence is no secret, and manager Brendan Rodgers has to address that situation in the summer transfer window.
While it would be hard for Celtic to attract a truly big-name or world-class centre-back to Celtic Park, one player who could be available and would be a good addition to the team is Robert Huth.
The 33-year-old is hugely experienced and started his professional club football career at Chelsea, where he won the Premier League title twice.

Huth was a key figure in Leicester’s shock league title success in the 2015-16 season, and even at 33, the German central defender can still a very good job in the Premier League.
With his Champions League and international experience, the former Middlesbrough and Stoke City would be a brilliant addition to the Celtic squad and would be a massive success in the Scottish Premiership.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Huth would provide a massive physical presence in the Hoops’ defence, and with his contract at Leicester running out at the end of the season – according to Transfermarkt.com – he would be available on a free transfer.
Wage could be an issue for Celtic – Huth earns £38,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com – but if the Hoops want to win the domestic treble again next season and make a real impact in the Champions League or the Europa League, then they will have to cough it up.
