Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic should make a move for Iago Aspas of Celta de Vigo in the summer transfer window.
Iago Aspas may have failed to make an impact at Liverpool when Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Reds, but the Celtic manager would be wise to bring the striker to Celtic Park in the summer transfer window.
Signed by Liverpool from Celta de Vigo in the summer of 2013 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £7 million, Aspas could make only a handful of appearances for the Merseyside outfit before leaving for Sevilla on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2014 and then returning to Celta in the summer of 2015 on a permanent basis.
The 30-year-old striker has been a success at Celta, having scored 19 goals in La Liga last season and 20 in the league so far this campaign, according to WhoScored, and it would be wise of Celtic to make a move for him in the summer transfer window.
Having worked with Aspas at Liverpool, Rodgers would know what the Spain international striker is capable of, and there is no doubt that the 30-year-old would be a success in the Scottish Premiership.
Aspas has regained his form and confidence in Spain, and it is the right time for Celtic to bring him to Celtic Park and make him a key member of their team.
