Everton defender Phil Jagielka should be on the radar of Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Dedryck Boyata may have said that he is happy at Celtic, as quoted in The Glasgow Evening Times, but it would be wise of Brendan Rodgers’s side to look at alternative options in the January transfer window and make a loan move for Everton central defender Phil Jagielka – just in case.
Boyata is arguably the best centre-back on the books of Celtic at the moment, but until and unless the Belgium international signs a new contract with the Hoops, there will always be doubt on the future of the 27-year-old.
It is never easy to find a quality player in the January transfer window, but as a stop-gap, Celtic should look at bringing Jagielka on loan from Everton.
The 36-year-old defender is past his prime and has played just 40 minutes of Premier League football for Everton so far this season, according to WhoScored, but the Englishman would do a good job in the Scottish Premiership – at least in the short term.

Jagielka is out of contract at Everton at the end of the season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, and given his lack of first-team football so far this campaign, the veteran defender could be persuaded to make a move in January.
Perhaps even Everton would be willing to let go of the defender – who earns £50,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – in the January transfer window without demanding a sizeable transfer fee, and Celtic should at least make a move.
