Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic should monitor Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson.

Celtic have the best and most competitive squad in Scotland, but there is always room for improvement. An area that manager Brendan Rodgers needs to address is central defence.
Given the injury problems that Celtic have had so far this season and their performances in the Champions League, it is clear that the Glasgow giants could do with another centre-back.
Leeds United have a player who could solve that problem. Pontus Jansson is one of the best central defenders in the Championship, and he could be the solution to the Hoops’ issue at the back.

True, the 26-year-old’s performances so far this season have not been great, but there is no doubt that the Sweden international is a superb defender.
Celtic defender Mikael Lustig recently spoke of his admiration of his compatriot to Expressen, saying that he is “extremely talented” (click here to read more), and Rodgers would be wise to at least take a look at Jansson.

The former Malmo FF star is hugely experienced and has played with top-quality players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and he could actually feature in the 2018 World Cup in Russia with Sweden.
Given that Jansson made his loan deal from Torino to Leeds permanent only in the summer of 2017 and signed a new five-year deal with the Whites in October, it is not going to be easy for Celtic to prise him away from Elland Road in the January transfer window, but the Glasgow giants should keep an eye on him and make a move next summer.
