Liverpool signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window would be great financially for Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all are interested in signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window…. and this is great for Celtic.
It has been reported that Southampton would want as much as £75 million in transfer fees in order to part company with Van Dijk, who is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, with Liverpool claimed to be intent on signing him in January.

The Daily Mail has claimed that this would mean that Celtic would receive a £7.5m windfall. That’s because the Bhoys are in line for a 10% sell-on fee, as reported by The Daily Record in October.
Van Dijk joined Celtic from Dutch club Groningen in the summer of 2013 and played for the Glasgow giants for two seasons.

Southampton paid the Bhoys a transfer fee of £13m, as reported by BBC Sport, in the summer of 2015 in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old Dutchman.
Celtic would hope that Van Dijk does leave Southampton for £75m, as manager Brendan Rodgers would be able to spend the £7.5m on new players in the January transfer window or next summer.
