With the January transfer window open there is much speculation regarding possible deals, and there is a significant amount of focus on the future of Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.
Dembele has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic, with Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly preparing a £20 million bid, while Stoke City, West Ham United and Everton are all monitoring the situation, as reported by The Sun.
Dembele’s first season at Celtic following his move from Fulham was hugely successful as he scored 32 goals in 49 games across all competitions, helping his club to a treble of the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.
This season the Frenchman hasn’t been quite as prolific, but he has still made something of an impact, finding the net eight times in 21 appearances.
Although Dembele has received criticism from some Celtic supporters for his displays this campaign, it would still represent a major blow for the club if he was to depart.
Even on the occasions that he doesn’t find the net the forward offers Celtic a great deal with his pace and it would be very difficult for them to find a suitable replacement, especially at this stage of the season.
Unless they receive an offer in excess of £40 million, Celtic shouldn’t consider selling Dembele, who could still have a very important part to play for Brendan Rodgers’ side should he remain at the club.
