Celtic will be dealt a massive blow if they lose Tom Rogic to Zenit St Petersburg but they can soften it by demanding a player plus cash in exchange.

Tom Rogic of Celtic vies with Gary Dicker of Kilmarnock during the Scottish Premier Leagur match between Celtic and Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on April 27, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to a report from The Herald, Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg are preparing a £9 million bid for Celtic’s Australian midfielder Tom Rogic.

Rogic played a very important part in Celtic’s domestic treble last season and losing him would be a terrible blow. The report reveals that the Hoops aren’t willing to part ways with their star midfielder for anything less than £15 million and with four years still left on his deal, they could well push for that amount.

It is unclear if Zenit would be willing to spend potentially £6 million more than what they’ve been preparing to offer which could complicate the deal. Celtic would preferably want to keep hold of Rogic but the prospect of playing in the Champions League could sway him away.

The Hoops could simplify the deal massively by demanding to have a player along with cash in exchange for their Australian and Zenit’s 24-year-old forward Luka Djordjevic would be a phenomenal option.

The Montenegran international spent the last two seasons on loan at Arsenal Tula and has just a year left on his contract with the Russian champions. Djordjevic scored nine goals and provided six assists in all competitions last season which is hugely impressive for his age.

Odsonne Edouard has been hugely impressive for the Hoops up top but the addition of Djordjevic will give them a whole new dimension. A fox in the box, the 24-year-old is almost always at the right place at the right time. Djordjevic possesses exceptional ability in the air and his strength on the ball and movement off it makes him an incredible fit for the Hoops next season.

Celtic will get a decent amount in return for Rogic but if they can manage to get Djordjevic in the deal, Celtic would be pulling off an absolute masterstroke this summer.
