Brendan Rodgers has stated that Celtic are willing to break their transfer record this summer.

With Oliver Burke’s future at Red Bull Leipzig currently in doubt (Nottingham Post), it is time that Celtic considered making a bid for the talented wide-man.

Brendan Rodgers is known to be hunting a new winger this summer, with Celtic prepared to spend big to improve the quality of their first-team squad.

Rodgers is said to want to add another attacker at Celtic, despite the signing of Jonny Hayes (Daily Mail).

And if Celtic could snap up Burke, then it would be a brilliant addition for the Bhoys.

Scotland's Oliver Burke

Burke has struggled to break into Leipzig’s first-team, since signing in a £13 million move from Nottingham Forest last summer (Nottingham Post).

If Celtic were to sign Burke it is likely that they would have to break their transfer record, but Rodgers has said that he is prepared to do that – should the right player be available.

And Burke looks like a potentially ideal addition, if Rodgers could convince him to move to Glasgow.

The 20-year-old looks to be one of Scotland’s finest prospects, and to have him playing in the SPFL would be a major benefit to the nation’s game.

Celtic could also build their team around Burke for the years ahead, as he has the talent to tear apart defences across the division.

The Bhoys have already been linked with the likes of Patrick Roberts and Adnan Januzaj this summer, but Burke should also be on Celtic’s wishlist, now he is available.
