The young Celtic defender can grow into a fine player if he gets the chance.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has made signing a new centre-back a priority in January, yet he already has the ideal long-term solution in the form of Kristoffer Ajer.
The 19-year-old is a fine young talent who deserves to be playing far more regularly than he has been this season, with Ajer managing only seen appearances in all competitions to date.

Despite that, he has impressed when he has got on the pitch and, with Celtic having a healthy lead in the Scottish Premiership, they should be using the coming months to develop Ajer into the defender who looks destined to become.
Rangers have benefited from giving teenager Ross McCrorie and a chance and Celtic should be following suit, with Ajer too good to be overlooked in favour of a defender who may not hit the ground running in Scotland despite Brendan Rodgers’ best intentions.

The Bhoys boss has shown in the past that he is not afraid to give youth a chance and he should be giving Ajer the game time he needs to flourish, not limiting his opportunities further with a big-name signing in January.
The time has come for Ajer to step up, potentially saving Celtic a tidy sum in the process.
