Celtic have lost first team scout John McGlynn to Raith Rovers, the League One side have announced.
McGlynn has signed a two year deal to return to Stark’s Park, where he managed between 2006 and 2012, as boss.
In a club statement, Raith thanked Celtic for their co-operation during discussions over the 56 year old’s appointment.
McGlynn had spells as manager of Hearts and Livingston before being brought to Celtic by Ronny Deila a month after leaving the latter post, in January 2015.
Celtic’s current boss Brendan Rodgers first encountered McGlynn when his then Liverpool side faced Hearts in the 2012-13 Europa League qualifying rounds.
And Rodgers said of the Musselburgh native upon taking the Bhoys’ position two years ago, via the Scotsman: “John has been a manager before. I came across him when Liverpool played Hearts in the Europa League and was very impressed. He’s a good guy with good knowledge of the game.
“He’ll get to see over the coming weeks how I work, but he’s a coach and he knows football. He’s someone I’ll look at specifically to [look at players and give an insight into opposition tactics]. He knows opponents. He knows Hearts well for a start! John is looking forward to that position and it will be great for him. He’ll have a handle on Scottish football.”
McGlynn enjoyed his best spell in management with Raith, with whom he recorded a 43 per cent win rate and won the then Scottish Second Division (now League One) in 2009.
