Scott Robertson is set to leave Celtic having been told to go by Ange Postecoglou – and Scott Brown wants to take him to Fleetwood Town.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that Postecoglou has held talks with Robertson.

The decision has been made that Robertson can now leave Celtic in 2023.

Robertson’s contract expires at the end of the season but Celtic may look to move him on during the January window.

St Mirren are understood to be interested in signing Robertson but the fascinating move could see him join Scott Brown.

Former Celtic captain Brown is believed to be chasing Robertson having worked together at Parkhead.

That will surely appeal to Robertson, who is allegedly admired by a host of clubs in England’s third tier.

Robertson needs to leave Celtic

Robertson was handed a surprise debut by Neil Lennon back in 2019 as he started against CFR Cluj in the Europa League.

The midfielder was just 18 at the time and Celtic fans will have hoped to see him emerge as a first-team player just like Callum McGregor.

Instead, that appearance against Cluj remains Robertson’s only first-team appearance for the Bhoys.

Loan spells with Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra have helped Robertson develop and establish that interest in England.

Yet it hasn’t taken him any closer to first-team playing time at Celtic and has never been picked for action by Postecoglou.

Now 21, Robertson clearly needs to leave Celtic in order to play first-team football and a return to England may make sense.

Scott Brown will have seen Robertson at Celtic and joining forces could be perfect for the young midfielder as he seeks to kickstart his career.

Celtic surely won’t demand a huge fee for Robertson but may want a hefty sell-on clause just in case he becomes a star down the line.
