Celtic boss Lennon is getting his Bhoys into shape in pre-season ahead of the Parkhead club’s Champions League qualifiers.
Celtic ace Ryan Christie has spoken highly of Hoops manager Neil Lennon to Sky Sports News, highlighting how “everyone’s made note” of how well he did following his arrival earlier this year on a caretaker basis.
The Hoops were left reeling from the sudden departure of Brendan Rodgers, who joined Leicester City, and their former manager was tasked with getting the Bhoys over the line with regards to the Scottish Premiership title and Scottish Cup.
Although there was criticism of Celtic’s performances under Lennon, he succeeded in getting the job done, getting the Parkhead club’s name on the league trophy for the eighth season in a row as well as sealing the domestic treble for a third year in a row.
The club thus rewarded the Northern Irishman with a contract, kicking off his second permanent stint as Hoops manager, despite some Bhoys still expressing doubts over whether he is the right man for the job on a long-term basis.
Ahead of Celtic’s Champions League qualifying tie against FK Sarajevo in July, Christie is confident that Lennon will be able to put more of a stamp on the team and turn them into more of a force, compared to last season when he was thrown in at the deep end.
“I think he’ll definitely have more time to get his points across between now and the qualifiers,” Christie, who joined Celtic in 2015 under Ronny Deila’s watch, told Sky Sports News.
“Everybody’s made note of how well he did when he came in under the circumstances – he had zero time to put his own stamp on it. I think he’ll be definitely wanting to put a few points across and get us playing the way he wants to play and hopefully that will put us in good stead going into these qualifiers.”
