Christie scored in Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership game at St Mirren while Ntcham saw a penalty saved.
Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has given his thoughts about Olivier Ntcham’s penalty effort against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.
The Hoops followed up their superb 2-1 win in the Old Firm derby by running out 2-0 winners at St Mirren Park thanks to goals from Timothy Weah and Christie.
On 15 minutes, Weah slammed a header goalwards which crashed off the bar and bounced in to open the scoring, while five minutes from time was when Christie clipped in the visitors’ second.
However, Ntcham was guilty of missing a penalty in the first half, The Scotsman reporting that it was Celtic’s fifth miss from the spot this season, with Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair also spurning their 12-yard kicks.
With Christie having come back following a stint on the sidelines with a thigh strain (Transfermarkt), he said he would be happy to take penalties if called upon by Neil Lennon, though he thought Ntcham did well and opposition goalkeeper Václav Hladký did well to keep it out.
The 24-year-old told The Scotsman: “I’ve only taken one and that was against Hearts at 4-0 up in the last minute, so there wasn’t a lot of pressure on that one!
“I’m happy to take penalties if called upon. To be fair, I’d have put money on Oli scoring against St Mirren, it’s actually a good save. But there are plenty of the boys in the squad happy to step up and take a penalty.”
Up next for Celtic is Saturday’s Scottish Premiership meeting with Livingston at Parkhead.
