Hoops ace Christie was left with multiple facial fractures after a coming together with Aberdeen’s Ball in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has spoken out about his ongoing recovery from the facial injury he suffered in the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen in April and admitted that Dominic Ball has been in regular contact with him.
The 24-year-old Hoops ace was badly injured after a clash of heads with Ball in the first half of the Hampden Park encounter, the Dons man being shown a second yellow card following the foul.
Christie was treated for several minutes by Celtic’s medical staff and left the field on a stretcher with his neck in a brace, the club subsequently announcing that the player would be out for the season.
The former Inverness man, who had to undergo surgery for multiple facial fractures, has no recollection of the incident after suffering concussion for the first time in his career, although he has since watched it back, but had kind words to say about Ball.
“Dom’s been in constant contact,” Christie told the Daily Record about his former flatmate whilst on loan at the Dons.
“He was a bit shaken up by it after it happened. He was desperate to visit but because of the surgery and the way it was it was best he stayed away for a bit.”
Celtic eased to a 3-0 victory over nine-man Aberdeen, who had Lewis Ferguson sent off in the second half for a two-footed tackle, to set up a final meeting with Hearts.
